VOLUNTARY MASS IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM FOR MENINGITIS

WHEREAS, meningitis is a communicable disease; and

WHEREAS, a vaccine is available to immunize individuals against meningitis; and

WHEREAS, cases of meningitis have been diagnosed in the State of Rhode Island; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Health has determined That a voluntary mass immunization program for individuals between the ages of two (2) and twenty-two (22) will protect the public health and welfare of the citizens of the State of Rhode Island.

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Rhode Island, pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws Section 23-8-2, authorize a voluntary mass immunization program, as delineated above, to curb meningitis in the State of Rhode Island.
