Executive Order 02-01 July 2, 2002 WHEREAS, Rhode Island's magnificent public beaches are one of its most treasured natural resources and should be made available to the State's citizens without cost whenever possible; and WHEREAS, Rhode Island General Laws § 42-17.1-29 permits the Director of the Department of Environmental Management to establish appropriate user and entrance fees for state beaches; and WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Environmental Management, consistent with Rhode Island General Laws § 42-17.1-29 may from time to time waive user and/or entrance fees for all state beaches; and WHEREAS, the Director of Environmental Management, with my approval, wishes to waive entrance fees at state beaches on Bay Day; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, LINCOLN ALMOND, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, do hereby order and direct the following: 1. The last Saturday in July is declared Bay Day in the State of Rhode Island. This Executive Order supercedes Executive Order 01-02 and shall take effect immediately upon the date hereof.
