Executive Order 99-07 June 3, 1999 WHEREAS, Rhode Island's magnificent public beaches are one of us most treasured natural resources and should be made available to the State's citizens without cost whenever possible; and WHEREAS, Rhode Island General Laws § 42-17.1-29 permits the Director or the Department or Environmental Management to establish appropriate user and entrance fees for state beaches, and WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Environmental Management, consistent with Rhode Island General Laws § 42-17.1-29 may from time to time waive user and/or entrance fees for all state beaches; and WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Environmental Management, with my approval, wishes to waive entrance fees at state beaches on Bay Day; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, LINCOLN ALMOND, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, do hereby order and direct the following: 1. The last Saturday in July, beginning July 31, 1999, is declared Bay Day in the State of Rhode Island. This Executive Order supercedes Executive Order 98-9 and shall take effect immediately upon the date hereof. So Ordered: Lincoln Almond Governor |
